Final PIece
This final piece is a combination of stickers, acrylic paint, collage and pain skin to depict the earths perspective on pollution. The sticker of earth, from week 3 progress, was used as an outline for the paint skins, which worked much better and neater than drawing it on with pencil. The use of the paint skins, as tested in week 2 and 3, is there to show the buildup of trash and other subjects of matter over the years that continue to harm the earth. The paint skins are a mix of acrylic paint and clear gel, ripped apart and glued back together over the sticker, working just like it did during my progress, producing layers and giving the piece a texture. The collage part, from week 2 and 3, worked very well in this piece because it brings very intricate detail to show clearly what is producing the large amounts of smoke. The factories that I cut out of pictures are perfect because across the world they are a very large contributor of pollution. The use of acrylic paint, from all parts of the progress, worked wonderfully for this piece, with it being able to mix with the clear gel and produce color, to blending and giving a very realistic look to the clouds of smog being emitted from the factories. All of the materials used came together very nicely to produce an interesting piece with a message behind it.

Week 4
During week 4, I began to seriously test out the clear gel and and acrylic paint, because I really liked the outcome from week 2/3. First, I started out by mixing both, blue and green paint with the gel, and spreading it out over my paint tray, making sure to create peaks and dips so it would layer better. Next I printed out the same image from week 3 and went through the process of painting it with gel and rubbing off the paint. I then put it on the canvas so I could put paint skins on it. After the paint has dried, I peeled it off the tray and began to rip it apart, into small enough pieces to use. Most of the week was taken up by creating multiple batches of paint plus gel and layering them together to create a coherent depiction of earth. This technique worked very well in the final piece because the earth was a very large and well arranged focal point in the piece, and the use of layering was noticeable in creating a built up look over the earth.
Week 5
Note: my computer will not let me add the other photo, i will try again, but incase the picture is of the images being cut out
In week five, I finished up the layering of paint skins and began another part of, what was hopefully the final project, the collage. The collage was made up of different pictures of factories I found that I was going to layer along the bottom of the canvas. Using real images of factories worked very well for this project because there was much more detail than there would have been with paint, and it added another element to the piece. It took a long time to cut out the pictures because I had to be very very careful with them being so small. Finally I ended the week with all my pictures cut out, many of the smoke stacks were also cut apart so then it was easier and provided a more realistic look.

week 6
In week 6, I finished the other main parts of my painting, laying the collage together and painting the smog. As seen in the pictures a lot was done to get from the beginning to the end of the week. First I started off by taping the individual factories onto the canvas to position them right, then glued them down one by one. After I began to to paint the smog in the sky. I started out with one grey color, however the single color didn't give the painting enough depth or realism so I decided to make darker and lighter shades for layering them together. I began to paint the different colors and mix them with the original, it started to look much more realistic. After, it still was missing something, so I tried panting a small section of smog over the earth, hoping to give it a more enveloped look. Really liking the way it turned out, I painted more over the earth, finally giving me the end piece. This project came together over the 6 weeks and combines many different mediums into a interesting piece with a clear message behind it.
